Tidy Up History: Cheat Codes for Missing Items

If you are stuck on one missing key, knowledge book or label drawer in Tidy Up History, this page gets you past it. It covers the built-in option that marks missing pickups on your map, cheat codes for those objects, and a code that gives you a level if you run short of XP.

The short version. Turn on “Show Pickups On Map” and search the marked area. If the object still isn’t there, enter its code from the tables below. If your ability choices have left you unable to level, use the LevelUp code.

The game is meant to be a cozy, relaxed experience, and cheats add nothing to that. I’d save them for when you have searched properly and come up empty.

Show Pickups On Map

Start with your ears. Keys, knowledge books and label drawers each play their own distinctive sound when you are near them, so if you hear something unusual, stop and track it down.

If that doesn’t turn it up, the game has a hint option for exactly this. Open the Pause menu, enter the Hints & Cheats menu, and switch on “Show Pickups On Map”. Any item you are still missing is then marked on the map.

The marker shows you the area. You still have to find the spot, so search the marked area thoroughly before moving on to the codes.

Cheat Codes

If a pickup should be where the map says and you still can’t find it, something has probably gone wrong. The codes below hand you the missing key, knowledge book or label drawer.

Enter them from the Cheats menu. Every code is eight digits long. These are the codes at the time of writing, and a later patch could change them.

Two region names don’t line up between the tables. In the key table, Andean is paired with Mesopotamia (Key_MesopotamiaAndean) and Mesoamerica stands alone (Key_Mesoamerica). In the knowledge book table it is the other way round: Andean is paired with Mesoamerica (Knowledge_MesoamericaAndean) and Mesopotamia stands alone (Knowledge_Mesopotamia).

Not Enough XP to Level Up

Running out of XP because of the abilities you bought is unlikely. The ability tree makes you buy some repair abilities early, because repairing is where most of your XP comes from.

Before assuming you are blocked, do two things:

  • Search every corner of the areas you have open.
  • Go back through the abilities you already own and check you have used each one everywhere it applies. Two easy ones to miss are repairing the fuse box in every room and clearing every spiderweb, including the ones on the ceiling.

If you really are short of XP, enter the LevelUp code, 21122124, to trigger a level up.

Post on the game’s forums with the ability combination that got you there. Do the same if nothing on this page gets you moving: start a new thread describing where you are and what is missing, so it can be looked into.
