Blasterbug: All 49 Achievements Guide

Blasterbug: Last Bug Standing! has 49 achievements and not one of them needs a second person in the room. Most are straightforward, a handful are fiddly, and around four hours of the run goes on grinding coins. The game calls bombs Pom’, so this guide does the same.

The short version: farm 10,000 coins in one on one Death Battles on the Temple stage, spend roughly 4,000 of them on the sticker machine in the Bug Yard shop, spend the rest on characters until you own all 15 base ones, and top the farm up again if the last few leave you short. The trick achievements are set up in a one on one Crown Battle, and the rest are spread across the other battle modes and the Bug Yard. If you never pick the crown up in a Crown Battle, the round has no time limit, which turns those tricks into practice with no clock on you.

The coin and sticker achievements in the Steam list, running from Coin Curious up to Stickierest, with Fire in the Hole! and Dodge This! underneath.

Set the game up before you start

The easiest setup is a controller for player one and the keyboard for player two, or a virtual controller if you only own one pad. That gives you a second character who stands there doing nothing while you line up the fiddly unlocks. A handful of achievements want a crowd instead, and for those, add bots at level 1 difficulty.

At the bottom of the battle mode setup screen there is an Advanced Rules menu. It lets you change the timer, win count, flame spread, damage protection, fuse duration, walk speed and more. This guide only calls it out where a specific value matters, but it is the answer any time something refuses to unlock. Work out which rule is in your way and turn it in your favour.

Coin Curious, Coin Enthusiast, Coin Collector and Coin Hoarder

AchievementWhat you need
Coin CuriousPick up your very first coin. It happens in your first match.
Coin Enthusiast100 coins collected in total.
Coin Collector1,000 coins in total.
Coin Hoarder10,000 coins in total.

All four track your lifetime total, so the first three tick over on their own while you work toward the last one. That 10,000 also pays for stickers and characters, which makes it the backbone of the whole run. Your progress is visible on the achievement list in the Steam app if you want to check how far you have got. Farming 5,000, going off to do other achievements, then coming back for the second 5,000 is far less painful than doing it in one sitting.

The fastest farm is a one on one Death Battle against a second character you simply leave standing still. Use these Advanced Rules values:

  • Timer: 60 sec
  • Win Count: 1
  • Self-Dam. Prot.: 1HP!!
  • Flame Spread: Instant
  • Fuse duration: 1 sec
  • Walk Speed: 5
  • Specials: Enabled
  • Wrap Around: Disabled
  • Intermissions: every 3 matches

Pick Temple as the stage. Stroll up to the idle character, drop a Pom’ at their feet and the kill is instant. That pays 10 coins. When the round ends a statue falls and scatters more coins across the floor. Start the next timer just as the statue is falling and you can scoop those up immediately instead of standing around waiting for them. It is tedious and you will repeat it many times, but nothing else pays out this fast.

The Advanced Rules panel with the win count row selected, the arrows on either side of a row being how each value is changed.

Sticky, Stickier, Stickiest and Stickierest

AchievementWhat you need
StickyYour first sticker.
Stickier5 different stickers.
Stickiest25 different stickers.
Stickierest50 different stickers.

Do not start on these until you have coins to burn, because the full set costs around 4,000. Go to the Bug Yard from the main menu. The tutorial has to be finished first, and until then the elder cockroach on the left only tells you to come back later. When he is ready, he asks you to punch a Pom’ into the tin can on his left. Do it and the blast opens a hole in the wall, with the shop behind it. The coin operated machine inside is where stickers come from.

Each new sticker plays a sound effect and lowers the chance that the next pull is a new one, dropping from 100% all the way to 2%. Adding more coins pushes the odds back up. Top the machine up so the chance stays at 100%. Sooner or later that stops being possible. From then on, put in as many coins as the machine will take and accept the best chance you can buy, which is down to about 20% by the end of the set. You need every sticker in the game for the full set, and the Collections area shows which ones you already own.

Fire in the Hole!, Dodge This!, Bakuen Cross Attack! and Pandemic

Three of these four just want you heavily powered up. Start a one on one Crown Battle, leave the crown where it is so the round never ends, and spend as long as you like hoovering up every power-up that spawns.

AchievementWhat you need
Fire in the Hole!Push your explosion range up to 10 using power-ups, then drop a few Pom’.
Dodge This!Place 10 Pom’ in total with the Line ability. The count is cumulative, so it builds up over the match. The setup is below.
Bakuen Cross Attack!Keep an explosion going without a break for more than two seconds. Collect a big pile of power-ups first, then run around planting Pom’ everywhere so the blasts chain into one another.
PandemicInfect other players with the poison mushroom. The count is not spelled out, so infect as many as you can in one match. The setup is below.

Dodge This! needs the Line ability, the power-up whose icon looks like a row of Pom’. While you have it, holding the Pom’ button down lays a whole row at once, so stock up on spare Pom’ and keep laying lines until the total is reached.

If you blow yourself up while chaining explosions, your power-ups drop on the ground and can be picked straight back up, so a death barely costs you anything. Get more powerful and try again.

Pandemic is the awkward one here. Open Advanced Rules and find the menu on the right that sets how often each power-up appears. The green mushroom at the bottom of that list is the poison, so max its numbers out. Then play a Crown Battle against the maximum number of level 1 bots on the Classic arena, which has no stage gimmicks to interfere. Blow up the destructible blocks until a mushroom shows up, grab it, and go and touch as many bots as you can. Not every version of the poison spreads. One of them only reverses your movement and goes nowhere. The one you want is the effect that makes your bug giant, so once you have that, walk into as big a crowd as you can find.

Slide Kill!, Drop Kill!, Killing Spree!, Multi-Kill!, This is Sparta! and Reverse Card!

Slide Kill! is the one worth setting up properly. In a one on one Crown Battle, stack up explosive power and kick a Pom’ toward your opponent. It should detonate before it even reaches them. If your kicked Pom’ will not slide at all, pick up the cannon shaped power-up first, which is the one that keeps a kicked Pom’ sliding.

The kill achievements, from Slide Kill! down to The Floor is Lava, with Geneva Suggestion and True Pacifist sitting between them.

AchievementWhat you need
Slide Kill!Kill someone with a Pom’ that is sliding after a kick, as described above.
Drop Kill!Punch a Pom’ onto an opponent’s head just as it is about to go off. Set it up the same way as Slide Kill!, but punch while the fuse burns down. The timing is not clearly signposted, so mash the punch button.
Killing Spree!Five opponents in one match without dying. Fill the match with level 1 bots and place Pom’ carefully. A Crown Battle is the easiest place to do it.
Multi-Kill!Two or more opponents within a short window. Same match as above. It usually lands on its own while you are working on the spree.
This is Sparta!Punch an opponent into a stage hazard. One on one on Volcano, shove them into the lava on the left. It may take a few attempts.
Reverse Card!Punch a Pom’ back at whoever placed it. You can do this to yourself: punch your own Pom’ into a wall and let the rebound kill you. A few tries and it lands. Use a Crown Battle so the clock never runs out.

We call it Ping-Pong, The Floor is Lava and Tear down this wall!

These three come from the punch button rather than the Pom’ button. Punching walls until they break is the easy one of the set, and any map will do for it.

The match-outcome achievements, from Tear down this wall! to What are you waiting for exactly?, covering draws, win streaks and overtime.

AchievementWhat you need
We call it Ping-PongPunch the same Pom’ back and forth four times without it touching the floor. Walls count, which is what makes it possible on your own.
The Floor is LavaKeep a Pom’ off the ground for more than ten seconds, using the same rally.
Tear down this wall!Break ten or more walls with punches inside a single match. A one on one Crown Battle gives you unlimited time to work through them.

For both of the rally achievements, the treasure chest on the Aquarium stage is a good surface to bounce a Pom’ off. Send it up with a punch, let the chest knock it back, and punch it again before it lands. Hit it as early as you can. An early hit sends it higher. It also comes back a shorter distance, which sets you up for the next punch. A late hit sends it too far away to reach. Ten seconds takes longer than you would expect when each bounce off the chest is so short, but The Floor is Lava fires the instant you cross the line.

Geneva Suggestion, True Pacifist, Old School, Pet Sitter and King of the (Ant)Hill

These five are all the same match with a different restriction attached. Play a one on one Crown Battle, claim the crown, and the win arrives when the clock hits zero. The mounts that Pet Sitter asks about are the round objects you pick up off the floor.

The Steam achievement list for Blasterbug: Last Bug Standing!, showing the battle mode and stage rewards from Stay Fresh! down to Ring of Fire.

AchievementWhat you need
Geneva SuggestionWin without placing a single Pom’. Keep your Pom’ button untouched for the whole round.
True PacifistWin without killing anybody. Do nothing at all once you are holding it.
Old SchoolWin without using your character’s special ability. Keep off the special button.
Pet SitterGet on a mount and still have it alive when the match ends. Grab one before you go for the crown.
King of the (Ant)HillTake the crown in a Crown Battle and never drop it.

Stay Fresh!, Umm… Awkward…, Close Call, Make it Twice!, What are you waiting for exactly?, El Classico and They don’t just want money. They want ALL of the money.

Stay Fresh! is the one to plan for. Play the Paint Battle one on one and keep dropping Pom’ across the floor until every tile has juice on it. The rest are single match conditions. Umm… Awkward… and What are you waiting for exactly? often arrive during normal play, and the rows below force them if they have not.

AchievementWhat you need
Stay Fresh!Every floor tile covered in juice when a Paint Battle ends. It unlocks as the round finishes.
Umm… Awkward…End a match in a draw. To force it, play a one on one Death Battle, take explosion power-ups and set a Pom’ that kills you and the bot at the same instant.
Close CallWin during the overtime of a Death Battle. Play one on one, let the timer expire, then kill your opponent in overtime or let the game finish them off.
Make it Twice!Win two battles in a row. Crown Battle or Death Battle one on one makes this easy.
What are you waiting for exactly?Reach overtime in a Death Battle with nobody having died. To force it, play one on one and do not attack until overtime begins.
El ClassicoNot confirmed. See the paragraph below the table.
They don’t just want money. They want ALL of the money.Go into a Coin Battle Overtime with the scores level and survive it. The setup is below.

For the money one, play a one on one Coin Battle and pick up exactly one coin each so you reach Overtime tied. Let the clock expire and see the Overtime out.

As of the launch build, nobody has pinned down what triggers El Classico. The game’s own description is only “We’ve all been there once…”, and it has a habit of unlocking by accident while you are busy with something else. The best guess is that you need to trap yourself with your own Pom’, although how many is unknown. Plant Pom’ freely and try to box yourself in. I would not spend a dedicated session hunting it.

Master of All Trades, Watch out! Watch out!, W-Why is it wearing a tutu?, Any resemblance is purely coincidental and We all float down here

Master of All Trades wants a win with every victory condition inside one Party Battle series. The winning is not the hard part. As of the launch build the game does not always put every victory condition in front of you, so a series can end with you having won everything on offer and still no achievement. Set Walk Speed to 5 to save time. Launch Party Battle, put the win count at 11, then win every game it hands you. Expect to replay the series a couple of times before the right spread of conditions comes up, and treat any single attempt as unreliable.

AchievementWhat you need
Watch out! Watch out!Survive the Punch Battle. Play it one on one and win by punching your opponent out.
W-Why is it wearing a tutu?Survive the Gerbil Race. One on one, avoid the pits, take the win.
Any resemblance is purely coincidentalSurvive Basket Pom’. In a one on one you cannot really lose it. Just keep knocking the item forwards until it goes in the hole and the win is yours.
We all float down hereSurvive Bubble Bugs. Play one on one and let the other bug go first.

Stage secrets: Blasters of the lost Scarab, Bramble Blast, Kali Ma Shakti De and Ring of Fire

Blasters of the lost Scarab is the most involved thing on the list, and the game’s only hint is “That shape feels familiar…”. Take a one on one Crown Battle on the Temple stage. In the middle of the arena is a golden scarab, ringed by skull blocks. Bomb the golden scarab and it drops to the bottom of the arena. From there you have to punch it to the right, keeping up with the scrolling screen, until you find a scarab shaped indentation in the floor and push it in. The indentation appears in a random place and some runs will not give you a workable one. Hold the scarab roughly centred on screen. That leaves you free to shove it up or down the moment a gap appears. Expect to break more skull blocks out of the way. When it slots in, power-ups fly everywhere and the achievement lands.

The golden scarab sitting in the middle of the Temple arena, ringed by skull blocks, with the spiked roller down the left wall.

Bramble Blast is quick. Load the Garden stage and look for the purple thing with eyes sitting in a ring of thorny green vines. Drop Pom’ around that area and one of them turns into a bramble, which unlocks it automatically. The achievement description calls them Kudzu flavoured Pom’s, and that is exactly what appears.

Kali Ma Shakti De is on the Volcano map. Punch a Pom’ into one of the tiny volcanoes with faces on them and the volcano gets the sacrifice it was after. Space around them is tight, so lining the punch up is the whole difficulty. Keep at it and it will go in.

Ring of Fire is tough. Go into Advanced Rules first. Fuse duration goes to five seconds, walk speed goes to 5. Now take a one on one Crown Battle on the Attic and clear every wall until the arena is bare. What you need again is the cannon shaped power-up. Kick a Pom’ through a door, then leave it alone: it should keep sliding, coming back out of the other doors, until the fuse finally runs out. The exact trigger is not clear as of the launch build, but the Pom’ seems to need a route through the doors that comes close to completing a loop before it detonates. If nothing fires, collect more power-ups and keep repeating it. Several minutes of attempts is normal here.

The last stretch of the list, opening on Ring of Fire and running through the character unlocks to We're Gonna Need a Bigger Bucket.

A New Challenger, The Enemy of my Enemy, It’s Getting Crowded in Here, Catch ‘em all!, CAN you really do that?, Hey Mr. DJ and We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Bucket

AchievementWhat you need
A New ChallengerUnlock any one new character.
The Enemy of my EnemyOwn 9 of the base characters.
It’s Getting Crowded in HereOwn 12 of them.
Catch ‘em all!Own all 15 base characters.
CAN you really do that?Open the Shop in the Bug Yard.
Hey Mr. DJOpen the Music Room in the Bug Yard.
We’re Gonna Need a Bigger BucketCover the entire Character Select menu in paint.

The first four are one purchase queue. Characters cost coins, so top the Temple farm up if the last few leave you short. You need to buy every character except Galandra, who is DLC and does not count toward the total. Once all 15 are bought, the set completes.

CAN you really do that? fires the moment the shop door opens, so it comes free with the sticker grind above. Hey Mr. DJ is the same trick on the oil can on the right: punch a Pom’ into it, a second door appears, and behind it is the Music Room, which is the game’s sound test.

We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Bucket happens outside a match. Choose Paint Battle, and before everyone has locked in a character, walk your bug down into the bottom area of the Character Select screen and start bombing the floor. Keep going until the menu is covered in paint.
